Evaluations

Before therapy or reading services begin, we will identify your child’s unique strengths and challenges to help us create a personalized plan for therapy/reading intervention. Our evaluation process may include:

  • A parent interview

  • Questionnaires and observations

  • Language samples

  • Formal and standardized assessments

  • Quick developmental screenings

We will discuss our findings with you and work together to set speech and occupational therapy and/or reading goals.

Our Approach to Therapy

At Acorn Therapy Solutions, we partner with families to build lifelong skills in everyday moments. We see therapy as a team effort because we know that children make faster progress when parents and loved ones are involved.

We work hard, play hard, and master real-life activities in therapy! Your child will learn while racing cars down a ramp, creating Play-Doh sculptures, jumping in a ball pit, buttoning or zipping a jacket, building a block tower, exploring sensory bins, eating with utensils, and more.

With consistent therapy attendance and home practice, your child will reach their goals and continue to grow outside of the clinic.

Speech, Language, Social Skills, & AAC

Does your child struggle to speak clearly, express their wants and needs, or interact with others? Our speech therapy sessions will incorporate targeted play activities to help your child:

  • Master all age-appropriate speech sounds

  • Express their wants, needs, ideas, and feelings

  • Understand what they hear and read

  • Communicate using signs, words, pictures, or high-tech AAC devices

  • Confidently socialize with other children and adults

We specialize in offering intensive speech therapy for motor speech disorders, including Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). Each session incorporates principles of motor learning to help your child successfully practice challenging sounds and words at least 50–200+ times for quick and lasting progress.

  • Writing with a pencil, cutting with scissors, and eating with utensils

  • Organizing and planning activities

  • Starting and completing tasks independently
